York City Police Department Therapy K-9 Program

Therapy Dog Fundraiser

Your generous contribution will help fund Victory, Bennie, and Doc’s continued service and the future of this program.

Victory, the York City Police Department’s first therapy K-9, was donated to the department in 2021 by Leashes of Valor, a nonprofit based in Virginia that provides service dogs to veterans. She is the first canine to join the department in more than 50 years due to the stigma associated with the department and their handler’s use of dogs throughout the city and leading to the race riots. After seeing the positive effects Victory had on the first responders and the wider York County community, two other dogs were added to the program. Bennie joined Victory in 2022 as part of the York City Police Department and Doc, who will begin service in May of 2023, will be placed in York Hospital. The three officers who handle these dogs along with Victory, Bennie, and Doc are committed to enhancing officer wellness and community outreach.
